Our School Story

Our Context

Manoah Steves Elementary is a vibrant learning community situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the peoples of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language group, also known by the colonial name of Richmond, British Columbia. We are one of three schools in the Richmond School District that has both a Montessori and Neighbourhood program for students in kindergarten through grade 7.

Our school benefits greatly from its strong sense of COMMUNITY. By this, we mean the people in our community and the physical place that comprises our community.

Our school staff work together in a positive, collaborative way to make learning engaging and to meet the diverse needs of our students. Our families are very supportive of the school community and we pride ourselves in strong home-school communication.

Steves Elementary is in an optimal geographic location for learning. We are close to local trails, the estuary and the community of Steveston. Our school grounds include large fields, a tree line, playgrounds, gardens, and two outdoor learning classrooms. The school also has two interior courtyards with gardens and protected places for outdoor learning. As you can imagine, we take our learning outside whenever possible!
