SCHOOL NEWS

  • We will continue to collect donations for our Annual Food Drive until December 19th.  So far we have received enough donations, to feed 13 people for two weeks.

  • Our lost and found area is full again.  Please come by the office after school to have a look.

  •  MyEducation BC (MyEd) Parent Portal provides parents with a way to access their child’s school information online.  With this portal account, you are able to view attendance, term grades, and other information about your child(ren).  In November, parents new to the district received an email with their login ID and a temporary password.  This email  came from sysadmin@myeducation.gov.bc.ca.  An active MyEd account is needed to be able to access your child’s Report Cards when they are published on December 21st.  Access your account by going to:  https://www.myeducation.gov.bc.ca/aspen/logon.do. If you are having account problems, please contact the Parent Portal Support Team by sending an email to MyEdParentPortal@sd38.bc.ca.  In the subject line please put Parent Portal, and in the message include the following:  School Name, Login ID, Student name, Parent/Guardian name and a brief description of the account issue.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Child Care, we are sharing the survey information below to help inform the Province’s ChildCareBC initiatives:

This is a friendly reminder to complete the 2023 School-Aged Child Care Demand Parent Survey by December 20 to help inform the Province’s planning for future expansion of school age child care. Thank you to the parents who have already completed this survey. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

While we know school-aged child care is a vital service families rely on to ensure their children have a quality, affordable, and inclusive place to be during a parent’s full work day, we do not yet have regional or provincial data to understand the demand.

By completing this survey, you can help the Province to better understand your community’s needs for school-aged child care. The survey will take 10-15 minutes and the results will help inform future ChildCareBC initiatives.

School Story in Action 2023-2024

 December 15, 2023

This week, we would like to highlight the Rainbow Club. The Rainbow Club is a safe and inclusive space where students may get together to play games, build with Lego and Keva, draw, do crafts and read. They can interact with peers and adults from different classes and grades.

A Rainbow Club is a GSA (Gay, Straight Alliance or Gender and Sexuality Awareness) for an elementary school community. It provides a safe and supportive space for all including: 2SLGBTQA+ students, allies, those who have questions and are curious, those who need a space to be and those who want to join the activities.

This links to our School Story focus in the following way:

Learning requires exploration of one’s identity.

(First Peoples Principles of Learning)
