SCHOOL NEWS
- A reminder that hot lunch orders need to be placed one week prior. Note that in September, you could only enter orders until the end of December. Currently you can enter orders up until Spring Break in March. After Spring Break, you will be able to enter orders for the rest of the year. You will need to enter your child’s division number, not grade. The link is here: Fantuan.
- Thank you for participating in Family Literacy Week. It’s no too late to enter the photo contest! Take a photo of you and your family reading together, and email Ms. Ho at hho@sd38.bc.ca for a chance to win a book prize!
- Kindergarten hearing screenings will take place on Thursday, March 6th. Information has been emailed to parents already.
- Our extra-curricular basketball program run by our community/parent volunteer, Jason Birring, will be continuing this term. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and active environment for students to work together to develop basketball skills and learn to be good sports while playing together with their peers. This term, practices will take place on Fridays from 2:45pm to 3:45pm, and will be open to students in Grades 2 and 3. Please register by sending an email to hho@sd38.bc.ca with your child’s first and last name, and division number, with the subject heading “basketball”.

School Story in Action 2024-2025
January 31
This week students had the opportunity to participate in a school-wide drumming event with The Uzume Taiko Drumming Ensemble.
The focus was on the following:
“Students experience the respect and cooperation of group taiko drumming and develop listening and communication skills through the group process.”
The Uzume Taiko Drumming Ensemble.
Student Voice and Reflections
“It was good today because I have a drum too!”
“I liked hitting the drum because it makes noise. The noise is good because it sounded like the drums were singing a song.”
“I liked the drums because it sounds beautiful. I liked the hitting part because it sounds like the seagulls saying a song. They were talking.”
This links to our School Story focus in the following way:
