School Story in Action 2024-2025

December 13

This week we would like to highlight the Library Learning Commons. The Library is an inclusive and diverse space, providing learning opportunities and materials. To paraphrase Dr. Rudine Sims, our goal is to provide materials that act as windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors so students can see themselves, read stories different from their own and be transported into a different world in somebody else's shoes. The library is a collaborative space; used for clubs, learning towards curricular goals, co-teaching and hands-on experiences.

This links to our School Story focus in the following way:

  • Steves is a safe learning community where we strive to create a sense of belonging, see ourselves, work together, build connections to the land and our community, and respond to change. (Steves School Lens).
