SCHOOL NEWS

  • Thank you to the families who donated Halloween Candy.  As we have done in previous years, the donations were passed on to McMath’s Leadership Program to be distributed to the downtown East Side.

  • Division 6’s Green Team has arranged 3 “Burr Sweater Days”. Students are encouraged to wear warm sweaters as we turn the heat down a few degrees.  The purpose is to improve thermal comfort awareness and reduce energy consumption.

  • Note that Kindergarten registration for the 2024/2025 school year has now opened.  Please contact the Richmond School Board to register.

  • Breakfast club will resume on Friday, November 17th.

PAC NEWS

The winning movie, voted on by your kids for Friday's movie night is: Minions!

It was a very close race, with Minions coming ahead by only 3 votes.

Come to the school gym at 6:15 to watch the movie and enjoy pizza, popcorn, hot dogs and more!  (Friday, November 10th)

Also, please remember that there is a Garage Sale scheduled for next Friday after school.  Sign up for a table on MunchaLunch and come sell toys and clothes that your kids have grown out of.  Or sell crafts and gifts, just in time for the holidays!  Or even sell baked goods and snacks!  There are already 10 tables sold, but we need at least another 10 sellers to make it an extraordinary event!

The PAC has opened the Purdy's fundraiser!  Order by 11/27, pickup on 12/12!

Please find flyers attached for the Neufeld and Purdy’s PAC fundraisers.

School Story in Action 2023-2024

November 10, 2023

Each week, we will try to share a part of our School Story and how it applies to our community's daily learning. Our School Story is based on the Core Competencies found in the BC Curriculum and a focus on The First Peoples Principles of Learning.

This week we would like to highlight the use of a circle as a learning or sharing tool. The circle is a powerful way to connect and build community as everyone has an equal voice and responsibility. Being in a circle has it owns protocols such as speaking one at a time and listening to all as everyone (children and adults) is both a learner and a teacher. Many First Nations communities in Turtle Island use the circle which where we have learned this practice from.

This links to our School Story focus in the following way:

Learning is relational (focused on connectedness, and on reciprocal relationships).
