Reviewing Student Samples
An action that we have taken to support our learning focus, is to review student writing samples, together as a staff. This supports our school learning focus by helping teachers noticing similar trends to group together and collaborate around teaching and learning practices.
It was noted by all teachers that while there seems to be a desire to write, the following is also true:
- There seems to be some anxiety/ stress in relation to writing - lack of confidence
- Students are struggling with sharing ideas in writing versus speaking
- Many of the older students are challenged by the mechanics of writing - writing proper sentences with capitals and periods and good grammar
Teachers will be using district funded collaboration time, and support by our school teacher consultant, to develop their teaching practice.
